Vice President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan, arrived in Meghalaya on Monday as part of his four-state Northeast tour, received at Umroi Airport by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and senior officials.
During his visit to Shillong, the Vice President inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for key developmental projects worth over ₹1,000 crore. He also attended a civic reception at the U Soso Tham Auditorium featuring cultural performances representing the Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo communities. In his address, he praised the state’s rural entrepreneurship and ecological stewardship, underscoring the Northeast’s vital role in national development.
Radhakrishnan, who arrived from Assam, proceeds next to Manipur on September 8 before concluding his regional tour in Arunachal Pradesh.
