Senior United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Paul Lyngdoh warned that the party could soon be reduced to just “one or two MLAs” following a massive political shift in Meghalaya. His statement comes after eight of the UDP’s 12 legislators formally defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), leaving the regional party with a mere four seats in the state assembly.
“I have spoken many times inside the party that there is a lot of dissatisfaction with the way the party functions. What is sad is that the party leadership is in denial mode, they simply deny that there is nothing wrong,” he told reporters.
United Democratic Party (UDP) has left with only four MLA includes President UDP Metbah Lyngdoh, MLA mawkaiaw Nujorki Sungoh, Pual Lyngdoh himself and RENIKTON L TONGKHAR.
