Five residents of Meghalaya tragically lost their lives in a devastating fire that broke out in Tarapith, West Bengal. The victims were all residents of Dalu in the West Garo Hills district.
Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Conrad Sangma issued a statement extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. As a mark of solidarity and support, officials announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh to the next of kin of each of the deceased.
Sangma emphasized that they stand firmly with the affected families during this hour of grief, confirming that all necessary administrative and logistical assistance is currently being extended to bring them relief.
